Bets of the Week (13th – 19th August)
Chelsea FC – Arsenal FC (KO 14:00 – Sky Sports 1)
Both teams had much different starts to the season under their respective new managers. Maurizio Sarri got off to a blistering start beating Huddersfield 3-0 away from home. That was without key player Eden Hazard in the starting eleven, and once he did come on still seemed full of confidence after a successful World Cup with Belgium. Ngolo Kante, a clever penalty from new boy Jorginho and a late third by Pedro all sealed an impressive victory. The Italian manager admitted after the game that it still could take up to two months before he has them playing the ‘Sarri’ way.
Arsenal’s new coach Unai Emery has been given one of the worst possible opening fixtures for his start in the Premier League. An opening home game against Manchester City is now followed by a derby away game against rivals Chelsea. Arsenal were beat 2-0 at home last weekend against the Citizens and you could tell the team will need time to gel and get used to new tactics from Emery. They have a very potent attacking threat with Aubameyang, Ozil and Lacazette so the goalscoring potential is definitely there for this side. Although they were outclassed by an impressive City they did seem more organised than under Wenger. They will need to take some confidence from their last game to have a chance against Chelsea on Saturday. We believe the attacking style from Sarri and Arsenal’s search for a win will bring goals to the London derby with both teams to score (4/6). Our second betting recommendation is Eden Hazard to score first as he has done against Arsenal in his previous four home games (5/1).
Recommended Betting Tips
1. Both teams to score (4/6)
2. Eden Hazard first goalscorer (5/1)
Lazio Roma – Napoli (KO 19:30, Saturday)
The Serie A starts with an intriguing game between Lazio and a new look Napoli side managed by serial winner Carlo Ancelotti. Lazio will host their opponents at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, after just missing out on Champions League football last season. There have been several chances at the club over the summer with several key players leaving and having to rebuild their side sufficiently for a run at a Champions League spot and the Europa League. They did manage to keep their star player and young Serbian prospect Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, so far, which is massive boost to their team. He caught the attention of several big clubs from around Europe before the World Cup and his performances there only increased speculation about a transfer out. He will be key to their achievements this season.
A new look Napoli side under Carlo Ancelotti is an intriguing prospect and definitely the most toughest test during the Italian’s career. After winning trophies at clubs such as PSG, Real Madrid and Chelsea he can be the key to unlocking Juventus’ dominance of the Serie A. They did lose Brazilian maestro Jorginho to Chelsea during the summer transfer window for which they bought young Spanish midfield Fabian Ruiz, if he will be as important to their performances is to be seen. An away game at Lazio is not the easiest game for Napoli to start with and therefor our main betting tip is Both Teams To Score & Draw (3/1).
Recommended Betting Tips
1. Both Teams To Score & Draw 3/1
Valencia – Atletico Madrid (KO 19:00, Monday)
Both sides have made plenty of new signings and have ambitious sight for the season ahead. Valencia finished a strong campaign last season breaking into the top 5 of the Primera Division. Atletico Madrid enjoy a quiet season in the domestic league last season but enjoyed European success under Simeone by beating Marseille in the Europa League final. With Barcelona and Real Madrid both enjoying favourable home games, Atleti will have to hit the ground running to not fall behind from the get to.
Atletico enjoyed a smooth transfer window this year around and probably made the best additions to their squad in La Liga. They have bought some high quality players in Thomas Lemar, Nikola Kalinic and Rodri. The only first team player they did lose was Kevin Gameiro, who has joined monday evening’s opponnents Valencia. He joins the likes of Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi and ex-Inter midfielder Kondogbia in the transfer window to join Los Che. Atletico beat Real Madrid in the European Supercup final on Wednesday by 4-2 and look like they will hit the ground running. Diego Costa was in fantastic form and him paired with Antoine Griezmann are a force to be reckoned with. Atletico have had the upper hand over Valencia by being unbeaten against them in their last four games in all competitions. Our recommended betting tip for this La Liga cracker is Atletico to win to nil (3/1). We also like the look of Diego Costa first goalscorer after his impressive performance against Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane in midweek (11/2).
Recommended Betting Tips
1. Atletico Madrid to win to Nil 3/1
2. Diego Costa first goalscorer 11/2
